Gertrude M. Nelson, age 94, of Ridgeland, WI died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Luther Midelfort Northland Hospital in Barron. She was born July 15, 1915 to Louis & Martha (Glaser) Handorf on a farm near Ridgeland. Her family was the most important thing to her and she loved them with all her heart. Throughout her life she raised six wonderful children and countless foster children. She loved her parents and would visit them often. On October 17, 1935, she was married to Oscar Nelson at Ridgeland. Gertrude will be dearly missed.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Oscar on July 7, 1980, son: Bill Nelson, brothers: Art & Walden & sisters: Lala, Josie, Erna, Ruth & Irene. She is survived by her sons: Nyles (Dolores) Nelson of Elmhurst, IL & Frank Nelson of Winthrop Harbor, IL, daughters: Betty (Robert) Kowalski of Carpentersville, IL, Alice Schultz of Peoria, IL & Cathy Nelson of North Lake, IL, numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren, brother: Frank Handorf of Ridgeland, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 7 from St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in the Town of Prairie Farm, rural Ridgeland with Rev. John Toppe officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Memorial Gardens in Arlington Heights, IL. Visitation will be (was) held for the hour prior to services. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
