Vernon Selmer Daniel Halverson, age 86, of Dallas, WI peacefully went to his new home in Heaven to be with the Lord Jesus Christ whom he loved deeply, Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Dallas Care & Rehabilitation surrounded by his family. He was born July 17, 1924 to Edwin & Inga (Severude) Halverson in the Town of Maple Grove, the 6th of 8 children. He began his education in the one room Maple Grove School finishing thru the 8th grade in Chetek. On June 5, 1948, he was married to Phyllis Thompson in St. Paul, MN. Their union was blessed with 6 children and years of hard work egg hauling & farming. Phyllis preceded him in death on November 16, 1985. On May 2, 1987, he was married to Carol (Brunner) Miller at Minneapolis, MN.
In addition to his first wife, Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, sister: Anita & brothers: Phillip, Orten, Alden & James. He is survived by his wife: Carol of Dallas, sons: Edwin (Sylvia) Halverson of Barron, Vernon P. Jr. (Lisa) Halverson of Edgewood, WA, Alden (Debbie) Halverson of Dallas, Dennis (Sharon) Halverson of Cameron & Gordon (Karen) Halverson of Eleva, daughter: Marilyn (Don) Erlitz of Redmond, CA, 22 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 7 step-children, sisters: Muriel Olson of Oregon, WI & Leonie (Don) Cottrell of Los Angeles, CA, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be (were) held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 7 from Grace Family Ministry in Hillsdale with Revs. Rick Longanecker, Donald Erlitz, Michele Michaels & Chad Halverson officiating and interment in the Dallas Cemetery in the Town of Dallas. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas and also for the hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
