Mabel Sara Salsbury, age 93, of Prairie Farm, WI passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm surrounded by her family. Mabel was born on September 23, 1917, in the Township of Prairie Farm to Sam & Mary (Olson) Pederson. She attended Young School in rural Prairie Farm. On September 12, 1935, she married Earl Salsbury. They worked together on their farm in rural Prairie Farm until they retired. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist church near Prairie Farm. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, raising chickens, picking berries, fishing, and riding horse. She was always proud watching her Guernsey’s being shown at the area fairs. Mabel especially loved family get-togethers and being with her grand and great-grand children.
Mabel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Earl on October 21, 1988, her son: Jerry in 1986, grandsons: Darwin Nykanen in 1987 and Jamey Aune in 1997, her son-in-law: Harlan Christopherson in 2010 and her sisters: Cora Neswold, Gena Solie, Millie Rogers and Vanita Salsbury. She is survived by her sons: Allen (Connie) Salsbury of Prairie Farm and Robert (Julie) Salsbury of Ridgeland, her daughters: Shirley Christopherson of Ridgeland, Ruby (Ray) Nykanen of Clayton, Janice Salsbury of Prairie Farm and Judy (Gary) Becker of Prairie Farm, 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grand children, and several nieces, nephews other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 1 at Faith United Methodist Church in the Town of Prairie Farm with Pastor Brian Weaver officiating and interment in Wayside Cemetery in Barron. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas and also for the hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
