Elmer “Pete” Zuehlke, age 95, of Barron & formerly of Dallas, WI died Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Luther Midelfort Northland Hospital in Barron. He was born July 23, 1912 to Carl & Eva (Jeske) Zuehlke in the Town of Dallas where he was raised and attended school. He was confirmed at Dallas Lutheran Church. On July 10, 1936, he was united in marriage to Elsie Mizer at Dallas. Pete farmed, worked at feed mills, was a carpenter and hauled milk for the Barron Creamery. After retiring he worked at Pine Crest Golf Course in Dallas for many years. He enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, built wooden windmills for which he had his own patent and was noted for his “man power” lawn mower. Pete was a “jack of all trades” and master of most.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Elsie on August 4, 2001, brother: Al Zuehlke & sisters: Mamie O’Flanagan, Hilda Pecore & Elsie O’Flanagan. He is survived by his daughter: Verla Zuehlke of Barron, sisters: Tillie Krause of Prairie Farm & Dorothy Kulbeck of Dallas, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 31 at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas with Rev. Bob Friese officiating and interment in Dallas Cemetery in the Town of Dallas. Visitation will be (was) from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
