Arlie W. Wetzel
Arlie W. Wetzel, age 84, of Cameron, WI died Friday, November 11, 2011 at Rice Lake Convalescent Center. He was born June 24, 1927 to George & Julia (Sather) Wetzel at Rice Lake and raised and attended school in Cameron. On December 1, 1951, he was married to Arlene Ekern at Cameron and the couple took over the home farm. They moved off of the farm in 1980 and purchased a home just up the road where Arlie could keep and eye on things. The barn burned and they rebuilt in 1985 and then sold the farm in 1993. Arlie was a Cameron mail carrier for 28 years and a 4-H Dairy Leader for many years, helping kids with County Fair, Black & White Shows and the Wisconsin State Fair exhibits. He also played host to many barn dances and hay rides, was a clerk for the Pokegama School District & a fire warden for many years. He volunteered as a Cameron Civic Club member and helped with the horse pull and he enjoyed hunting, ice fishing & making sandbakkles, lefse & sea foam candy with his granddaughters. He also enjoyed watching the Packers & Badgers and playing cards.

Arlie was preceded in death by his parents & brothers: Rolland & Raymond Wetzel. He is survived by his wife: Arlene of Cameron, sons: Arlin (Rowann) Wetzel of Rock Port, WA, Allan Wetzel of Cameron & Arden Wetzel of Milaca, MN, daughter: Adeline (Kenneth) Keef of Cameron, grandchildren: Joyce (Shelly) Mills, Jaime & Jenna Keef, Cameo Wetzel & Ashley Rassmusen, great grandchildren: Andrew Mills & Austin Rassmusen, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18 at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Loren Barker officiating and interment in Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron and also for the hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
