Edna McWithey, age 91, of Ridgeland died Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Country Terrace at Menomonie.
She was born August 12, 1917 to Julius and Helga Stevens at Wheeler, WI. She was confirmed in faith at Hay River Lutheran Church and graduated from Colfax High School.
In July 18, 1940 she married Malcolm McWithey at Stillwater, MN. They farmed in the Wheeler area before moving to a farm west of Ridgeland where they farmed until 1974. Edna was also employed at Jerome foods for over 20 years.
Music was always a part of her life and she played with numerous bands throughout the years. She was Sunday school superintendent for many years and president of the ladies aid of Ridgeland Lutheran Church for several years.
Surviving are a son: Donald of Ridgeland, daughters: Rosemary McWithey of North St. Paul, MN, Sandra McWithey of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Julie (Jerry) Hiben of Boyceville, WI and Wendy McWithey of Ridgeland. 7 grandchildren: Stephen (Angie) McWithey, Brent, Kari, Paul McWithey, Jessica Hiben (Nate Donaldson), Daniel (Jody) Hiben, and Amanda (Kevin) Hanson, 5 great grandchildren: Nicole and Allison Hiben, Dylan and Ashlee Hanson, and Samuel McWithey, special music friend: Chuck Kirkwood and the wonderful caregivers at Country Terrace.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Malcolm, a son: Stephan, daughter-in-law: Jacklyn, brothers: Mannie, Alfred, Clifford, Martin, Edward and Herbert and sisters: Annie Nusburger, Helen Lee and Rosella Thompson.
Funeral services will be (were) held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20 from Ridgeland Lutheran Church with Rev. David Sands officiating and interment in Hay River Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Hay River, Dunn County, WI. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 19th at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas and also for the hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
