Edith C. Locke
Edith C. Locke, age 96, of Cameron, WI died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Knapp Haven Nursing Home in Chetek. She was born January 21, 1913 to Carl & Anna (Swanson) Nelson at Jump River, WI where she was raised and attended school. She attended high school at Ladysmith where she graduated in 1931. She went on to attend Barron County Normal School where she received her teaching certificate and taught all 8 grades for several years at country schools in Barron County. She later went on to attend UW Eau Claire and Whitewater where she received her Bachelorís Degree. In 1933 she was married to William Dummer who preceded her in death in 1948. In 1949 she was married to Chester Hoff and they later divorced. In 1960 she was married to Simon Locke and he preceded her in death in 1986. Edith retired from the Elkhorn Area School System in 1975 and returned to the Cameron area. She was a former member of the Methodist Church in Cameron and at age 90, she was baptized and became a member of Chetek Alliance Church. Edith was an outgoing and pleasant person who was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, poetry, traveling, working on crossword puzzles & cooking for family get togethers.

In addition to her husbands, Edith was preceded in death by her parents, step-son: William Dummer, Jr., daughters: Marsha Dummer & Vicky Hoff, 3 brothers & 3 sisters. She is survived by her sons: Ken (Janet) Dummer of Kirksville, MO, Dwayne (Wendy) Dummer of Cameron & Jack (Tami) Hoff of Cameron, 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Funeral services will be (were) held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 29 from Chetek Alliance Church with Pastor Daniel DeYarman officiating and interment in Orchard Beach Cemetery in Rice Lake. Visitation will be (was) held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron and also for the hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
