Elvera Waite, age 91, of Prairie Farm, WI, died Friday, July 31, 2009 at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm, WI. Elvera was born May 15, 1918 to Otto & Ragna (Peterson) Holten in the Town of New Haven, Dunn County, WI. In 1920, the family moved to a farm about 4 miles west of Prairie Farm, where she was raised and attended school. As a youngster, she played the accordion in a band with her father and her uncle. On June 14, 1939, she married James Waite of Prairie Farm. Soon after the death of her husband on April 24, 1947, Elvera moved back to Prairie Farm. Elvera was a member of Ruth Circle in United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm. Elvera loved little children and enjoyed country music, Elvis and car races.
Elvera was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son: James Waite, sisters: Laura Moen and Adeline Waite & brothers: Glenn Holten and Orville Holten. She is survived by her son: Jerome (Doris) Waite of Apple Valley, MN, daughter-in-law: Shirley Waite of Eau Claire, WI, grandchildren: Patti (Robert) Shepanik of Oak Grove, MN, Vicki (Alec) Christianson of Chippewa Falls, WI, Cindi (Ronald) Dickerson of Eau Claire, WI, Steven Crawford of Altoona, WI, Jessica Waite of Rochester, MN & Nathan Waite of Hudson, WI, eight great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, sisters: Mildred Moberly of Blaine, MN, and brothers: Don (Jean) Holten of Prairie Farm, Lloyd, Ray (Elizabeth), and Robert Holten all of Menomonie, WI, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be (were) held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5 from United Lutheran Church in Prairie Farm with Rev. Shelly Schultz officiating with interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Prairie Farm. Visitation will be (was) held for the hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
