Dean Johnson Obituary

Dean W. Johnson, age 77, of Rib Lake, WI & formerly of Rice Lake, WI died Thursday, April 18th, 2024 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.  He was born March 5th, 1947 to Wallace & Doris (Fankhauser) Johnson at Rice Lake & was raised and attended school at Barron where he graduated in 1965.  He served in the US National Guard for over 20 years before retiring in 1989.  On October 23rd, 1982 he was married to Shaunee (Wedeking) at Camp Williams, WI.  He also served active duty in the US Army from 1984-87. He then worked several years for the City of Medford until his retirement.  Dean was an avid NASCAR, Packers & Brewers fan. 

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, 1st wife: Patty (Kuehndorf) & 2nd wife: Shaunee on December 20th, 2015.  He is survived by his daughter: Janine Johnson of Chetek, step-daughter: Tiffany (Tony) Lueck of Prentice, WI, grandchildren: Joshua Lueck & Lindsey (James) Wadzinski, great grandchildren: James, Piper & Jasper Wadzinski & Emma Lueck, brothers: Mark, Lee (Rita) & Kevin (Amanda) Johnson, sisters: Linda (Bob) Miles & Debbie (Mike) Dietrich, nieces & nephews: Rece Dietrich, Trey & Taylor Johnson, Joe & Jennifer Hoglund, Haley Johnson & Jennifer (Rod) Simon, as well as his beloved cats: George & Spike.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 4th from 1-3 p.m. at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron.  Interment with Military Honors will be held at a later date at Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Spooner.  Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
