David J. Midboe, age 70, of New Auburn, WI passed away Sunday, June 3rd, 2018 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born March 16th, 1948 to Joseph & Beth (Olson) Midboe at Rice Lake. He graduated from Barron High School in 1966 & began his collegiate career as a scholarship athlete attending the University of North Dakota. His eventual love of & talent for music led him to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls & a degree in Music Education in 1972. He taught Music, Voice & Chorus at Ellsworth High School from 1972-1975. He continued his Music Education attending & graduating with a Master’s Degree in Music & Solo Performance from Northwestern University in Evanston, IL in 1980. In 1981, David received a scholarship to attend & study Opera Performance in Zurich, Switzerland. He spent the next 19 years in Europe working as a Baritone Soloist in Opera Houses in Wurtzburg (1982-1988), Muenster (1989-1996) & Weisbaden, Germany (1996-2000). He then returned to the United States & was a Voice Instructor at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN through 2006. He returned to Barron County in the fall of 2006 & has taught Voice & Performance in many venues in Northwestern Wisconsin. David loved the outdoors, was an avid photographer, hunter & fisherman. He loved to cook, share time with & entertain friends, of which he had many. He will be truly missed.

David was preceded in death by his parents & niece: Elizabeth Vergin. He is survived by his daughter: Lara Allen of Washington, D.C., brother: Steve (Gretchen) Midboe of Chetek, partner: Jan Hensgen of New Auburn, nephews: Joseph & Benjamin Midboe of Chetek, grandniece: Aurora Vergin of Chetek. His extended family, step-son: David (Candice) Hensgen, grandchildren: Tyler Blaha & Jordan Paul & great grandson: Axton Beaudette.
Funeral Services
A Celebration of Life will be (was) held at the Dallas Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 28th with visitation from Noon-1 p.m., a service from 1-2 p.m. & a short program & refreshments following the service. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
