David Glenn Thompson, age 80, of Cameron WI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Barron, WI after a short battle with cancer. He was born November 24th, 1938 to Glenn & Jeanette (Sheldon) Thompson at Annandale, MN. David graduated from Cameron High School and then served in the US Air Force from 1956 to 1960, in Germany. He worked in the trucking industry from 1960 to 1986. In 1985, he started Truckin Little Company, which designed, produced and sold hobby die cast trucks. He became internationally known by collectors of miniature detailed trucks and a number of articles were written about him in collector magazines. A proud moment for him was being flown with a few family members to Kankakee, IL for an air show where he was a VIP along with the Blue Angels. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Janet in their Bluebird motor coach, visiting family and friends all over the country. They spent many winters in Casa Grande, AZ. David was an avid card player and lately he played cribbage in the mornings in Cameron and spent time with family and friends. He was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron.

David was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn and Jeanette Thompson. He is survived by his wife: Janet Fredrickson, daughter: Lori (Greg) Spanjers of Springboro, OH, son: Scott Thompson of St. Paul, MN, grandchildren: Mary Spanjers of Yukon, OK, John Spanjers of Bowling Green, OH, Susie Spanjers of Springboro, OH, Adam Thompson of St. Paul, MN and Salma Thompson of St. Paul, MN, sisters: Linnea (DeWayne) Mueller of Ridgeland, WI, Caren (Arlan) Klinder of Cameron, WI and Glenda Yates (David Beeman) of El Paso, TX, brothers: Clark Thompson of Cameron, WI and Kenneth (Betty) Thompson of Weslaco, TX, as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 18th at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Tamra Harder officiating and interment following in Northern Wisconsin Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery at Spooner. Visitation will be for the hour prior to services at the church. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
