Grace Deutsch Obituary

Grace Frances Deutsch of Raymond, IA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100 years young. Her life was a tapestry woven with love, laughter, and cherished moments that will be forever remembered by those fortunate enough to have known her. Born on May 22, 1925, in the Barron/Dallas area of Wisconsin, Grace was the beloved daughter of Tracy and Mabel (Steurer) Dowd. Her journey through life began in a modest setting, where the values of family and hard work were instilled in her from an early age. In 1942, she married Eugene V. Deutsch, and together they embarked on a beautiful adventure marked by deep love and unwavering support. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Patsy and Sonny, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Grace was not only a devoted mother but also a diligent worker. She spent part of her career at Jerome Foods, yet she found profound fulfillment in her roles as a homemaker and farmer. Grace nurtured her family with the same tenderness she used in her artistic pursuits—whether it was crocheting and sewing, creating beautiful artwork, or baking delightful treats that brought warmth to their home. Her community knew Grace as a vibrant soul who actively volunteered at the Senior Center in Barron. She radiated positivity and encouragement, inspiring many with her compassionate spirit. This past May, surrounded by her loving family and friends, she joyfully celebrated her milestone 100th birthday—a testament to her resilience and vibrant spirit. Those who hold dear memories of Grace will fondly remember her love for the color red and her spirited nature, notably her impressive skills at Wii bowling, which she played with unmatched enthusiasm. Even into her later years, she retained an incredible independence, driving until the age of 95. And oh, the smell of her homemade bread will forever linger in the hearts of her family, as it was truly the best anyone could ever hope for.

Grace is survived by her loving children, Patsy Millermon of Raymond, IA, and Eugene (Leonora) Deutsch Jr. of Wautaga, TX. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her six grandchildren: Kim (Tim) Moore, Michelle Abbott, Teresa (Rob) Dahlgaard, Lisa (Dewey) Horsman, Gene (Debbie) Deutsch, Dave (Sam) Deutsch, 15 great-grandchildren: Ariel, Austin, Michael, Reece, Brandon, Alex, Dillon, Jim, Michael, Samantha, Makenna, Weston, Ethan, Grace, Savannah, and four great-great-grandchildren: Myles, River, Brooks, Landon, all of whom will carry her memory forward.
