Hazel Christianson Obituary

Hazel A. Christianson, age 93, of Chetek, WI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Chetek with her family by her side. She was born July 3rd, 1923 to Edwin & Huldah (Johnson) Petterson in the Town of Maple Grove, Barron County, WI. She was raised in Wickware where her parents operated the Petterson General Store. On November 14th, 1945, she was married to Kenneth Christianson at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church where Hazel has been a life-long member. She worked at Chetek Industries in the 1950’s along with helping Kenneth operate their dairy farm west of Chetek until Kenneth’s death November 6th, 1976. Hazel was active in the Willing Workers Circle & pretty much all of the various church activities at New Scandinavia.

In addition to her husband, Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Edgar & great grandson: Luke Christianson. She is survived by her daughters: Janet (Bruce) Davis) of Turtle Lake & Alta (Jerry) Leverson of Chetek, son: Eugene (Sandy) Christianson of Chetek, grandchildren: Laurie Tarman, Tammy Proudlock, Randy, Cory & Stacey Davis, Darrin Leverson, Sheryl Collinson, Cheyenne Christianson, Elissa Cella, Billie Kurtzhals, Jessica Paul, Josh & Colt Christianson, 36 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren, sister-in-law: Inez Polaski of Bella Vista, AK , as well as many other relatives & friends.

Funeral Service

Funeral Services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6th at New Scandinavia Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Grove, rural Dallas, with Rev. Heather Kistner officiating & interment following in the church cemetery. Visitation will be (was) held from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas & also for the hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
