Kathleen A. Fagan

Kathleen (Kathy) Anne Fagan, aged 72, died peacefully on May 6th, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a recent struggle with cancer. Kathy was born July 8, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Wilhelmina and John Hughes.

Kathy attended nursing school in 1963, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa, where she received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree. Shortly after, she began a family and worked as a homemaker for many years. Kathy began studying and practicing massage therapy in 1989. As her massage therapy practice grew, Kathy became a proud business owner of “Back to Basics” in Chetek, WI in 2001. Kathy continued her education by attaining several healing arts and advanced bodywork certifications throughout her career. Kathy truly enjoyed her clients and her greatest passion was helping others. She would often share her “mom and grandma stories” and her wonderful sense of humor with her clients.

Kathy also loved to spend time with her twenty three grandchildren, watch Judge Judy and read mystery novels. She was most proud of her ten children and was always there to provide unconditional support and boundless love. Being a mother was her greatest gift and blessing in this life. She enjoyed family gatherings such as the annual July 4th festivities, traveling adventures and endless school and sport activities. Kathy was strong, determined, compassionate and kept a positive outlook on life. Kathy has left a wonderful legacy and will be always remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.

Kathy is survived by her children, Daniel (Sharon) Rockwood of Menomonie, WI, Catherine (Guy) Hilbert of Barron, WI, Christine Silva of Eau Claire, WI, Curtis (Marie) Rockwood of Nampa, ID, Jennifer (Edward) Schofield of Chetek, WI, Travis Rockwood of Boise, ID, Melodee (Todd) Hoffner of Eagle Lake, MN, Elizabeth Smith of St.Paul, MN, Sarah Rockwood of Minneapolis, MN, Melinda (Richard) Rodriguez of Houston,TX; 23 grandchildren; Sisters; Marilyn Hughes, of Webster City, IA, Betty Hughes of Pawtucket, RI; Brothers; Thomas Hughes of North Royalton, OH, Michael (Sherri) Hughes of Forest City, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Wilhelmina and John Hughes.

Funeral Services

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 11th, at The Mill in Chetek, WI. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 5:00pm. to 6:30pm., memorial service to begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner and fellowship to follow. Friends and former clients of Kathy are invited. The Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Dallas, WI, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
