Lee Carl Hanson

Lee Carl Hanson, age 78, of Dallas, WI passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at his farm doing what he loved. He was born in Rice Lake, WI on November 16, 1947 to Ingwald and Lois Hanson. He grew up in Hillsdale, the third of four children and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also cherished the time he spent with his dad working on the family farm. Lee attended high school in Barron and later worked building silos for Koser Silo Works of Almena before being drafted into the Army in 1967 and he served two years, primarily in Germany. On May 13, 1967, he was married to MaryAnn Watrud at Stanfold Lutheran Church in the Town of Stanfold, rural Rice Lake.  After his discharge from the Army, he went back to silo-building when he returned, first for Koser and then on his own before following his dream and buying the family dairy farm from his parents in 1973. He continued building silos for 15 more years while farming with his wife and boys. He embarked on several other ventures over the years, including deer farming and owning a bar. Lee shifted from dairy to beef cattle in the early 2000’s.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: MaryAnn, his children: Shawn (Kim) of Puerto Rico, Ryan (Eric Wood) of Minneapolis, MN and Eric (Nanette) of Hudson, WI, grandchildren: Brandon (Dana), Kaitlyn and Sofie, great-granddaughter: Emma, siblings: Connley, Raymond (Margorie) and Rosanne (Joseph), as well as many nieces and nephews. Lee was also blessed to have so many great friends throughout his life. Their friendship and support meant a lot to him over the years. He was always quick to offer help to others and happy to accept a hand from his friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the family farm (1694 6th Ave, Dallas, WI 54733). There will be a short service at 2:00, followed by food, drink, and fellowship. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
