Margaret D. Spitzer, age 94, of Prairie Farm, WI passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the Pioneer Nursing Home in Prairie Farm. Margaret was born August 9, 1923, in the Township of New Haven, Dunn County, WI, to Clarence and Lena (Peterson) Tronrud. She grew up on her father’s farm in New Haven Township and attended Forest Grove School and later, Boyceville High School. After school, she worked for several area families, helping with children, household chores and painting. On August 20, 1942, she married Forrest Spitzer and had one daughter, Sheila Janelle. They later purchased a farm in Sheridan Township. While on the farm, Margaret also worked many years for “Miller’s Store” and later “Lien’s Store” in Prairie Farm. After retiring and selling the farm in 1981, Margaret and Forrest moved to Prairie Farm. Following Forrest’s death in 1988, Margaret remained very active gardening, caring for her lawn, baking, following her grandchildren, singing, taking photos, cooking, fishing, playing cards, volunteering with the students at the Prairie Farm elementary school and old-time dancing with Bernie. Margaret loved her family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. She will forever be remembered for her laugh, love of life, and ability to always find the positives in life and others.
