Maynard J. Ekern, age 86, of Cameron, WI died Sunday, January 6th, 2019 at Heritage Lakeside in Rice Lake. He was born November 23rd, 1932 to John & Alma (Jorstad) Ekern at Rice Lake & was raised and attended school at Cameron where he graduated in 1950. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army. Other than his years in the Army, Maynard farmed his entire life in the Town of Stanley & received a Century Farm Award in 1982. He was also very conservation minded and worked with local governmental programs to protect the land and water resources. He was also a member of Pieper-Marsh American Legion Post 194 of Cameron & enjoyed hunting.

Maynard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Orlie & Eldon Ekern & sister: Arlene Wetzel. He is survived by his brother: Kenneth Ekern of Cameron, sister: Gladys Martin of Rockport, WA, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11th at Faith Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Tamra Harder officiating & interment following at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron with Military Honors accorded by Pieper-Marsh American Legion Post 194. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Cameron & also for the hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
