Richard J. Sunderland, age 94, of Hayward, WI died Wednesday, July 13th, 2022, 4 days after his wife Veda of 71 years, at his home. He was born July 10th, 1928 to Frank & Alice (Crane) Sunderland in the Town of Arland. He attended high school at Cameron. On November 9th, 1950, he was married to Veda Dennis at Pine City, MN & served in the US Army from 1950-1952, attaining the rank of Corporal. Along with farming, he was also a skilled carpenter and built many homes throughout the years. He enjoyed, gardening, wood working & going to baseball games.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, wife: Veda on July 9th, 2022, children: Regina & Brent, brothers: Robert & Harry Sunderland & sisters: Betty Richards, Joan DeRosia & Jennie Hansen. He is survived by his sons: Kevin (Julie) Sunderland of Birchwood, Brian (Jill) Sunderland of Spooner, Todd Sunderland of Onalaska & Kelly (Sonya) Sunderland of Hayward, grandchildren: Patrick, Brody, Justin, Wyatt, Veda & Shay, great grandchildren: Eli, Leo, Farrah, Brynn, Macey & Jaxson, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25th at the Blue Hills Masonic Center in Rice Lake with Jason Stein & Eric Nueske officiating & interment following at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron with Military Honors accorded by Pieper-Marsh American Legion Post 194 of Cameron. Visitation will be held for the hour prior to services at the Masonic Center on Monday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
