Robert Solberg Obituary

Robert I. Solberg, age 98, formerly of Canton, WI died Monday, October 14th, 2019 at Our House Memory Care in Rice Lake. He was born October 11th, 1921 to Louis & Grace (Putnam) Solberg at Jump River, WI. He entered the US Army in 1942 & served with the 104th Infantry in the European Theater of WWII. On November 27th, 1943, he was married to June Strassman at Eau Claire. After his discharge, the couple lived in Eau Claire until about 1950, when they moved to Canton where they raised their family & Bob resided for 65 years. He worked on his brother-in-law’s mink ranch before going to work for Presto in Eau Claire. Following the plant’s shutdown, he went to work for Mastercraft in Rice Lake where he was their maintenance man. Bob enjoyed hunting & fishing in his younger years & after retiring, he enjoyed woodcarving.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife: June Solberg on July 12th, 1992, son-in-law: Gene Olson, brother: Russell Solberg & sister: Ruby Ellison. He is survived by his daughters: Patricia Olson of Motley, MN, Peggy (John) Olson of Hayward & Kay (Steven) Witt of Victoria, TX, grandchildren: Jennifer (Ben) Runchey, Sara (Deon) Stark, Melissa Olson & Amy (Kevin) Columbus, great grandchildren: Meghan (Kevin), Hayden & Emma Stark, Solomon & Samuel Runchey, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.

Funeral Services

Funeral Services will be (were) held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 22nd at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cameron with Rev. Tylan Dalrymple officiating. Visitation will be (was) held for the hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow the service in the Pine Grove Cemetery at Cameron with Military Honors accorded by the Pieper-Marsh American Legion Post 194 of Cameron. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Cameron & Dallas.
