Ronald Lewis Candler, age 86, of the Town of Sioux Creek, rural Chetek, WI died Monday, June 15th, 2020 at his home, which was the place of his birth. He was born May 27th, 1934 to Lewis & Stella (Dennis) Candler. He attended Sioux Creek Elementary School & graduated from Chetek High School in 1952. On March 27th, 1954, he was married to Carol K. Amundson at Dallas Lutheran Church. Together they operated a dairy farm & Ron also worked in construction, which he found enjoyable due to the variety of projects. After years in construction, Ron enlarged the dairy herd & also bought & sold cattle & horses. He was an avid reader, especially enjoying westerns. He sang & played country music on his guitar. He also played softball for many years & was a fan of the Milwaukee Braves & Brewers. He enjoyed travel & took several memorable trips to southern & western states, as well as visiting 4 islands of Hawaii.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Wallace & Leslie Candler & sisters: Irma Losey, Genieve Davis, Francis Hollister-Berg, Evelyn Vermies, Velma Candler & Helen Yetterberg. He is survived by his wife Carol, children: Sharon (Douglas) Balts of Dallas, Andy D. (Rhonda) Candler of Chetek, Rebecca K. Grubbs of Sun Valley, NV, Jeffery A. (Roslyn) Candler of Chetek & Ricky R. (Ninette) Candler of Merrill, 16 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
Funeral Services
Funeral services will be (were) held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th at Dallas Lutheran Church with Revs. D. Peter Friberg & David Thomassen officiating & interment following in the Dallas Cemetery. Visitation will be (was) held from 4-8 p.m. on Friday at the Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home in Dallas & also for the hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Arrangements are with Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Homes, Dallas & Cameron.
